"Transportation costs are a huge economic factor in any farming operation. The closer the farm is to local markets, the more value a farmer can derive from their product...not to mention the reduced negative environmental impacts."
Bill Zylmans
Former Regional Chair, BC Agricultural Land Commission
Freeze Drying
The drying of food is one of the oldest preservation methods known to humans. Gradual modifications to the process resulted in improvements to the quality of the finished product. The sublimation freeze-dry method perfects this, sealing in nutrients and vitamins for near-indefinite storage.
Cold Storage
We will have the capacity to provide long term cold storage of produce to maintain a consistent supply of goods, allowing for year-round production. The cold storage facility will also be used to receive and manage products for distribution to local markets.
Food Security
Now more than ever, we have come to realize the importance of food security in the context of production and supply chain management. Delta Fresh processes produce in a way that provides for long-term storage while maintaining quality, nutrition and flavour.
A New Market
Farming is a tough business! Just as difficult can be the uncertainty of a farmer's access to markets. Proximity to local markets is also good for our environment, helping maintain a reduced carbon footprint when compared to alternative processing methods and transportation costs.
